Storybird
You are going to write a story based on a topic from Health and Career using Storybird. You will complete this with a partner. Your choices for topics include:
Communicable and non-communicable diseases
Responding to bullying
Safety in various places (ie, swimming pool, ski hill, skate park etc.)
Work habits at school
Grade 4 - Negative effects of smoking or alcohol and how strategies to prevent or avoid using them (ie. physical and emotional health can be impacted, reduced ability to recognize risky situations, altered judgement, refusal skills, accessing accurate information)
Grade 5 - Factors that may contribute to the use of alcohol or tobacco (social influences, family influences, media, stress, curiosity).
The story should have two main characters at least. One should do everything wrong and the other should be correcting them.
You may need to do some research in order provide some facts.
Ex. One day Joe and Sally were going to the swimming pool. "I'm so excited that we are going swimming," said Joe as he took off running down the pool deck. "Joe," yelled Sally "You can't run on the pool deck, or you might slip and fall and hurt yourself". "Oh yeah," said Joe, "Good thing you reminded me or I might have ruined our swimming day".
Criteria:
- There should be at least 5 things the character is corrected on.
- There should be an introduction and conclusion to your writing.
- The story should be creative and have a climax.
- There should be 10 pages with pictures.
- Your writing should be free of grammar and spelling errors
Once you have chosen your partner (think carefully because you will be working for a while together), please fill in the following document. You may have to do some research for some facts. Once that is complete put your hand up so I can check it and I will register you on storybird!
Enjoy,
